University of Washington

  • Lead a team of content authors and strategists, web developers, and infrastructure engineers responsible for the primary homepage of the University of Washington, as well as many top-level sites, our storytelling efforts, and campus partner websites.
  • Contribute to and oversee the development of our storytelling process, which seeks to elevate the University and tell the stories of the faculty, staff, and students who create impact through their work.
  • Advance adoption and implementation of the University’s integrated marketing and communications strategies across the UW’s digital properties and related platforms.
  • Consult with departments on matters of content strategy, storytelling, web development, infrastructure, and brand alignment.
  • Oversee the building and maintenance of the university’s central web marketing platform, and supervise the development of templates, themes, and plugins used centrally and by many departments across campus.

  • Led a team of Web developers and infrastructure engineers who maintained the primary web hosting platform for the University of Washington.
  • Published and maintained a series of themes and plugins used on our platform and by many departments on campus.
  • Developed and produced several stories for the University’s storytelling effort and on behalf of the University’s campaign.
  • Hired and coordinated with vendors, consultants, and freelancers to support the efforts of the team.
  • Acted as an ambassador between the larger marketing web team and the campus community by attending web- related events and meetups, providing consulting services, offering training, and acting as an advocate for web development on and off campus.

  • Lead a team of front-end designers and developers working on a series of independently branded GPS–based gaming Web sites. Designed and maintained a consistent Web presence across all sites while addressing the unique design challenges of each site.

  • Set standards and practices for user experience design and front-end development. Ensured cross–browser compatibility, usability, and accessibility across all Web properties.

Catalysis Corporation 2006 — 2007

  • Worked directly with Microsoft employees and managers to create marketing campaigns for products and services.
  • Successfully executed all enterprise-level Windows Vista marketing campaign designs. Worked on a wide variety of media from Web sites, CD/DVD kits to interactive presentations. Developed the front–end components of Web applications.
  • Acted as a technical resource for team members by maintaining standards and instructing others in: HTML mark–up authoring, dynamic HTML implementation, information architecture, template design and implementation, development tools, and user experience.
  • Lead implementation of customer graphic design and mark–up and developed supporting documentation including imaging and site guidelines.
  • Worked with team members to research, refine, and create new user experience methodologies and technologies for application in Web development.

  • Managed a team of staff members and student employees.

Met with members of the university to identify training needs and develop training plans and schedules.
